Welcome Emily

posted on Sunday, 01 October, 2006 at 3:54 pm

Emily is home. She arrived friday morning with my mom. Small, nice and all white. If you guessed right, yes Emily is my Mac mini.

You may think it's weird name for computer… According to Michael Heilemann in his post Welcome Valkyrie „obviously all Macs are female“ with which I totally agree.

My old „Domino“ (PowerBook G4) which is obviously retiring (Hard-drive problems) will be erased and replaced by Emily. Domino served me well for these couple of months and because elepha.info was built on her, deserves a nice spot in my and my site's memories.

Emily is still resting in wardrobe and waiting to be connected to LC LCD which should arrive this week (I hope so). I was unable to wait and „played“ with her at saturday in my work office, set her up and of course reinstall. Since I use only english OS X translation I dropped out all translations and printer drives I will not ever need.

Saved some space and filled it with XCode tools which I use for my Java learning lessons. And of course imported about 7 gigs of music from my workstation :). Also whole system was updated to 10.4.8 version. Firmware update and installing all necessary stuff will allow me to connect it later and be available to work without spending four hours of downloading all software I'm used to use.

Powered with Inter Core Duo processor and wireless network this computer is the highest rated in my personal top ten computer chart. Also gorgeous thing is remote control. Resting on a couch while controlling what music will be played is really attractive.

Some pictures will be available when Emily will be connected and working on my desktop table.
