iTunes 7 are very innovative. New possibilities how to display playlists and management of library are very good. The most I like „Get Album Artwork“ function.
Because of this I even registered in iTunes Store. Even if I'm not american there was a way how to „cheat“ on registration controls…
Every bought CD I'm converting into mp3 format into iTunes Library. So after few years I got about 6 GB of music. Many artists and much more albums.
I want my library to be nice, so I decided to download avery possible artwork of every album I got. After few hours of downloading I got a little bit surprised.
I thought my HDD got speeded up or something because all artworks showed at every song very quickly. But after moving few albums into my iPod, I found later artworks are not on iPod.
While being upset of spending so much time for „nothing“ and digging in iTunes Library folder I found a new folder named „Album Artwork“ there. So thats the place where dog is buried.
All artworks are downloaded as *.itc files and stored on your
HDD. Very good solution, songs are not getting bigger. But it also has few
bugs. These .itc files are not transfered into iPod. Sad.
There is a little solution to this if Apple is not going to implement this in next
iPod firmware update. Dude named Jesper Nøhr found a way how to download album
artwork even if you are not registered there as jpeg file.
On his site printf.dk you can find article iTunes 7: Fetching artwork for fun and profit with live demo and download all artworks again (if you want them to be on your iPod).
Happy downloading!
